Shooting this couple was humbling and simply sweet. The attentiveness Sean gave Sam was timeless and showed up in ways so easily forgotten, like a gentle hand gesture of letting her walk before him, holding her door, and respecting her by asking what her choice was instead of just doing. There was a quiet strength of loving respect in their interactions. In this couple’s togetherness, you can feel the love oozing from both of them, and I wanted so badly to capture their quiet innocence that you might miss if not paying attention.

Sometimes in life, the quiet and calm, who prefer not being on stage, get overlooked, but by no means any less important. Sam is more reserved in her initial interactions, but the more time you spend with her, you are reminded of how much she has to offer. I wanted to illuminate Sam’s personality and share the shine that lies within her. The spotlight isn’t for everyone, especially in front of the camera, but that doesn’t mean they are less of anything. In this case, Sam’s reluctance made her so captivating in these images.

This couple is fascinatingly original, and their approach to marriage follows Ol’ Blue Eyes himself (Frank Sinatra), “I did it my way!” This couple was keeping it real!!! They were doing it how they wanted it done and weren’t letting family, peers, or societal pressure convenience them otherwise. No wedding, big party, wedding registry, or glam as measured by society, just pure-simple-effortless-easygoing love. This photoshoot was so fun and such a pleasure. Grateful I was chosen to help them express their engagement and wish them all they dream of having.
